This is my first blog post since our little girl joined this world. She made her entrance one I will never forget, but I’ll save that for another day. Today I’m talking to y’all about how you can style your home for the holidays even with the current events going on in the world. I’m a lover of Christmas decor, and I always decorate early. Some people don’t enjoy this but I love it because I get to enjoy my Christmas decor for two whole months.
So something I want to make very important, you don’t need to follow any rules when it comes to holiday decorating. Do what YOU want to do and what makes YOU happy. If someone says you can’t decorate for Christmas in November, they are wrong. I’ve had a decor blog now for two years and if there’s one thing I’ve realized is I don’t need to follow what everyone else is doing but I can instead create and make a space that I love. With the current events that are going on within our world right now, Christmas decor has helped bring joy into homes already, and I’m here to give you ideas!
My biggest tip with Christmas every year is pick a theme and stick to it. I have chosen a neutral theme over and over again because it allows me to add to my collection each year instead of fully starting over. Something to remember as well, you don’t have to use all of your Christmas decor each year either! This year I put out maybe a third of my Christmas decor. Part of the reason that I’m not putting out so much is because of little miss, but I’m loving the simpler look for Christmas.
I’m so excited cause I was able to add a couple more pieces from one of my favorite home decor stores Kirkland’s as well! If I could, I would probably buy everything in their store for Christmas cause they always have such high quality and amazing items for the holidays. Even if you aren’t having a big party this year, they have so many items that could just bring you and your immediate family joy.
For this year’s Thanksgiving and Christmas AJ and I decided to host since we have the little one with us. I was happy about it because then our parents can come see it all, and then we are just staying safe and keeping the number of people lower that would be around baby girl. I was able to decorate our entryway completely and used several GORGEOUS items from Kirkland’s, that are more holiday than just Christmas decor.
The first is this beautiful wreath, seriously the most gorgeous wreath I have gotten and my favorite from Kirkland’s. It’s a little heavier, but it hangs on this mirror by me using some twine and packing tape. I use the twine, wrap it around the wreath, then tape the excess on the back of the mirror with the packing tape.
Next are these gorgeous neutral reindeer that are white washed and perfect for all holiday decor! AJ actually picked these little deer out and I love them! Adding deer or antlers to our Christmas/Holiday decor has always been one of my favorites. I add antlers to the floral arrangement by the deer for an extra pop, and then I tied them into my tree as well by adding antlers there too.
Whatever style you choose to go with this year, make it one you are so happy about because we need more happy this year. I have been spending so much time at home with little miss, and having the decor around really just makes it feel so homey! So head on over to Kirkland’s to find a few items to make that holiday decor pop!
