How to Add a Modern Farmhouse Feel for Summer

The leisurely pace of summer is the perfect time to slow down and enjoy spending time at home. I am sharing some tips to add a modern farmhouse feel to your living room, creating a fresh and comforting atmosphere for you and your loved ones to come home. What better way to enjoy the long summer days?

Use neutrals with a pop of blue!

Warm wood tones and crisp whites are typical colors seen in a modern farmhouse style! However, you can freshen up the space for summer with cool blues and lots of fresh or faux greenery. Throw a few blue pillows on neutral chairs and couches for a fun summer style.

Add farmhouse inspired furniture.

I swapped out a bulky coffee table for a modern farmhouse bench to open up the space. It allows more room for friends and family to gather and can provide additional seating if needed. Just add a few accent pieces of furniture like side tables or benches in a fun color, texture or pattern to update the room. Simplify your decor.

Sometimes, less is more! Instead of styled trays, I replace table decor with simple stacks of vintage books and a seasonal candle or plant for summer. Burning candles always appeal to the senses and create a cozy comfortable atmosphere. Simplicity in spaces that are used often can make your home feel inviting. Often, overly decorated spaces make family members feel like that they can’t sit down. Simplify this summer to create comfortable spaces for family to really live in!
