Best Homemade Belgian Waffle Recipe for National Waffle Day

Happy National Waffle Day, y’all! We hope you are ready to celebrate with a big plate of fluffy waffles. To help get you in the spirit, we’ve put together a delicious recipe that isn’t your regular frozen waffles.

These airy and delicate waffles are so delicious and so simple to throw together. They're absolutely perfect for National Waffle Day. Check out the recipe below!

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Cups of Flour – all-purpose flour is best for this recipe

  • 1/2 Cup of Melted butter – for taste and texture

  • 4 Teaspoons of Baking powder – to make them perfectly fluffy

  • 2 Eggs – large eggs are best

  • 1 Tablespoon of Sugar – a must

  • 1 Teaspoon of Vanilla – for flavor

  • 1 2/3 Cups of Milk - we used 2%

DIRECTIONS 

  1. Preheat your waffle iron and spray with cooking spray or melted butter.

  2. Whisk together dry ingredients – flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs until light and fluffy.

  4. Add the vanilla to the egg mixture.

  5. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.

  6. Add the butter and milk into the mixture then blend until just smooth.

  7. Let the mixture sit for about 5 minutes before adding to the waffle iron.

  8. Pour onto hot iron and cook until golden brown.

  9. Serve topped with pure maple syrup, fruit and whipped cream.
