#Refresh4Less Challenge: Entryway Edition with A House with Books

We are so happy to be back with another blog takeover from one of our Kirkland’s Insiders! This time, we’re refreshing an entryway.

Hayley from @ahousewithbooks is taking on the #Refresh4Less challenge. Follow along to see what she created!

Hi friends!

I hope you’re having the best summer so far…taking time to relax, making those magical summer memories and maybe even tackling a project or two? I love doing projects in the summer because the timeline is more relaxed and I just feel a bit better about that mid-project chaos when we don’t have a school schedule hanging over our heads.

The project I decided to tackle first was a simple one though, and much needed. Our drop zone needed a makeover, but I also wanted to add one key function…a designated shoe drop for guests.

Here is our drop zone a few weeks ago:

We loved it and it was functional, but I was tired of the decor and thanks to COVID I was more ready than ever to go shoeless in our home. After having our first few friends and family members over we realized we can’t ask people to take off their shoes if there isn’t a noticeable, desirable place to store them. Thanks to Kirkland’s – I changed that in a snap!

There is always something new at Kirkland’s and you guys know I love that because fresh and fluid are big components of my style. First I switched out the bench with beautiful console table from Kirkland’s. I knew I wanted a shoe tray and I just couldn’t find a bench option anywhere that I liked that had a shoe shelf that I liked. Also, we already have another bench in this space where people can sit to take off their shoes if need be so a bench wasn’t a necessity.

Getting a table allowed me to add decor and an additional storage component. This is where the fun #refresh4less starts happening! A fun basket bowl from Kirkland’s to hold keys, sunglasses, phones, etc. was my first addition.

For the shoe tray I actually went with one of Kirkland’s decorative trays because I loved the look of it and it fit the bottom shelf of our table perfectly. Kirkland’s also has some great shoe tray options.

I knew I wanted the rest of the space to be styled so I chose these beautiful art pieces from Kirkland’s. I LOVE shopping for art at Kirkland’s because their pieces are always on-trend and you definitely get a high end look for less.

I also added this adorable globe and some stunning faux stems – all from Kirkland’s! I went shopping for these pieces in the store so some of them aren’t available online anymore, but I also linked some very similar options. And they have tons of inventory available in-store at Kirkland’s. All stores are open now and I can guarantee you you’ll find a treasure or two!

So what do you think?? With the exception of the table we had purchased I refreshed this space for less than $100. Honestly, the challenge would have been harder at most home decor stores, but at Kirkland’s it was pretty easy and of course, so fun! Now we have a drop zone ready for more guests to come over as life slowly gets back to normal and a more elevated space. It’s a win-win in my my book!
