On today’s blog, we’re putting on our chefs hat and trying our hand and these beautiful (and delicious!) ornament cake balls. Follow along to see how to make these Ornament Cake Balls for your dessert table.
Ingredients
For this recipe, you’ll need:
15 ounce box of white cake mix
1/2 cup of vegetable oil
3 eggs
12 ounce container of buttercream frosting
15 cake pop sticks
4 bags of candy melts (we used white, green, red and yellow!)
Piping bags and tips
1 bag of Rolo Chocolate Candy
Gold luster spray
Directions
Pre-heat oven to 350°F. Grease a 13x9-inch pan with butter or cooking spray. In a large bowl, beat cake mix, oil and eggs with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes. Pour into pan and bake for 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool completely.
After cooling, crumble cake into a large bowl. Add frosting and mix well. Shape into ornament-shaped balls. Place on cookie sheet and let freeze for 25 minutes.
Melt candy melts and separate into bowls, assorted by colors. Insert cake pop sticks into the balls and dip into the candy melts, tapping off excess. Return to cookie sheet and let set.
Put white melted candy into piping bags and insert pip. Get creative and start piping! After you’re finished piping, let the cake balls stand until set.
Unwrap Rolo Chocolate Candies and place on parchment paper. Spray candies with luster spray until gold. Once dry, gently press gold rolo on top of each cake ball.
Serve immediately on a tray or store for 3-4 days in an airtight container in a cool place.
