Simple Updates for Spring with Christina Goldsmith

We’re on a mission to prove how so many pieces can be used in multiple spots around your home. Last week, The Little White Farmhouse displayed the same set of hanging vases in three unique ways. Today, Christina Goldsmith is showing the versatility of the perfect plaque.

Christina is taking our sweet This Is Us wall plaque and styling it three different ways to inspire her entire audience. She’s a big fan of versatile pieces because they can be beautiful and major money-savers, and her style proves she’s a pro at finding flexible décor. Christina is letting us share her latest blog on Half Full, and now you’ll be able to read all her styling secrets.

If you’re on a budget but still like to have a stylish home, then my favorite money saving tip is to find versatile pieces for your home!

If you can imagine the piece in more than one room, then it’s a winner; and when you get the itch to refresh a space you can shop the items you already have in your own home. My husband loves when I do this. :)

I’ve partnered with Kirkland’s to show you how I styled their Black and White Striped This Is Us Wall Plaque three different ways in my home. I love how they’ve really expanded their décor options with pieces that fit into so many different styles, such as modern, modern farmhouse, traditional and so much more!

My personal style is pretty eclectic.

I keep my furniture neutral and most of my décor black and white so I can easily add pops of color, or keep it neutral through the seasons. That is also why I loved this sign as soon as I saw it. The black and white will easily fit in several spaces in my home (and would also be a cute addition to any family gallery wall!).

STYLE 1: ENTRYWAY

I have hooks on the wood accent wall in my entryway that are great for purses, backpacks, coats, umbrellas, etc. when guests come over, but it’s also great for switching up décor. For instance, I draped fresh cedar garland with bows and stockings on it for Christmas.

Since then I’ve switched up the furniture in my entryway and I knew this sign would be super cute hung on one of the hooks.

I love using twine to hang things that I don’t want to permanently affix to anything, so I grabbed some twine I have on hand, looped it through the hooks on the back of the sign, tied a cute bow at the top and called it good!

STYLE 2: FAMILY ROOM/FIREPLACE MANTLE

I recently painted the built-ins Behr Black Mocha that flank our fireplace, which is a nice soft black, so the black and white contrast of the sign on the mantle ties everything in splendidly!

You might recognize this bench from another post where I talked about Refreshing and Reorganizing for the New Year. This is another versatile piece from Kirkland’s that I ended up changing the legs on to add height (because we’re tall people over here), and fit better with the clean lines I have in this room since I recently refreshed it.

I love that it’s a storage bench for extra blankets, throw pillow covers, and I also stored the original legs in it in case I ever want to change them back!

STYLE 3: STAIRWELL FAMILY WALL

I don’t have a ton of family photos around the house, but if you do I think this sign is the perfect addition to a family photo vignette or gallery wall. I have family photos on the wall going upstairs and this fit right in!

I hope that helps get your creative wheels turning and thinking about the versatile pieces in your home that will help you save money when you get the itch to switch! ;)
