10 Tips to Help You Sleep Better
Waking up tired? Not able to fall asleep easily? We want to remove barriers that are preventing you from feeling fully rested. Here are 10 ways to help you sleep more soundly every night.
Invest in the right mattress and pillows
It’s important to establish healthy habits, but they won’t help you very much if your sleeping setup isn’t comfortable. If you have the money to invest, find a mattress and pillows that will work well for you.
Set a cutoff time for caffeine
A restful night of sleep could hang in the balance in the middle of the afternoon. Be careful with your caffeine intake as the day goes on. Find a cutoff time for caffeine that allows you to be productive throughout the entire day but doesn’t keep you awake all night.
Exercise regularly
When you work out regularly, you’ll be worn out and ready to fall asleep at night. Exercise can also help relieve stress. It’s always nice when your mind isn’t running a million miles per hour when you’re ready to pass out.
Don’t sleep with an empty or full stomach
This can be a tricky line to walk. Make sure you’re not going to need a midnight snack but avoid eating too much.
Limit liquid intake before bed
There are few things more frustrating than being on the verge of falling asleep and sensing the urge to use the restroom. Limiting your liquid consumption will also reduce the likelihood you wake up in the middle of the night.
Turn off technology before you lie down
Scrolling through feeds and watching videos may make your mind more active. Reducing exposure to light late at night will also help you wind down.
Diffuse your favorite essential oils
Have a favorite oil that helps you relax? Diffuse it while you sleep!
Meditate to clear your mind
An overly active mind can make it hard to sleep. Find ways to clear your head when you’re ready for bed.
Make sure your bedroom is peaceful
Eliminate distracting lights or noises and embrace the peace and quiet.
Establish a consistent sleep schedule
Develop a routine if possible. It’s great to get a certain amount of sleep, but your body will be better rested if you become a more regularly scheduled sleeper. Try to wake up and go to sleep at similar times each day.
